Biographical Note

Founded circa 1999, Jewish Women Watching is a women's rights activist organization that seeks, according to its mission statement, "to challenge and change sexist and oppressive practices in the Jewish community." Its founders and members remain anonymous. Modeled after the Guerrilla Girls, the group's campaigns have often used satire, and strategies like attaching condoms or vibrators to materials for distribution, to call attention to issues of social justice. Many of these actions have been covered by Jewish media sources. Coverage and information on specific campaigns can be found on their website at www.jewishwomenwatching.com.

Scope and Contents

Ephemera and promotional materials; correspondence, notes, and memoranda by members; meeting minutes and agendas, which are primarily on a flash drive; newspaper clippings and various publications; invoices and bank statements; photographs and audio recordings.
