Abstract:
The NAWHERC, on the Yankton Sioux Reservation in South Dakota, addresses issues of health, education, land and water rights, and economic development of Native American people. The records document NAWHERC's programs relating to Native American health issues and cultural survival, including fetal alcohol syndrome, diabetes, breast cancer, HIV/AIDS, environmental issues, preservation of the Dakota language, and domestic violence. Administrative files pertaining to funding, program information, grant applications, and conference materials are also included.
