Scope and Contents of the Collection
This collection is comprised of Mary Angella Holbrook's diaries (3 vols., 1861-65), containing her observations on daily life, on teaching in South Braintree and Quincy, Massachusetts, on religion, and a few comments on current events. There are also photographs of Mary Holbrook (Powers) and her husband, Edward S. Powers; a few poems and clippings; a guestbook from the family's summer cottage; and Edward S. Powers's school exercise book. There is also a brief family history, and transcriptions of the diaries and poems (on CD-Rom). NOTE: There is no container list online for this finding aid.
