United Nations representative and teacher. Gladys Bradly was born in Ostego, Michigan, 1897. She received her B.A. in English from the University of Michigan in 1923 and her M.A. in Speech Therapy from Columbia Teacher's College, 1929. She taught high school English and History in Michigan and New York. She married A. Day Bradley, 1929, and they had one daughter. Later, she held the following positions in the United Nations: alternate representative and Program Chairman for the United Nations Friends General Conference, 1956-58; Vice-chair of the Committee on UNICEF, 1963-81; and on the Steering Committee of the Commission on Status of Women, 1980-82. Bradley was also active in the Pan-Pacific and Southeast Asia Women's Association, 1958- 82. She died in Newtown, Pennsylvania, in 1983. |
