History of the Collection

The Marine Leland Papers were donated to the Smith College Archives from a number of sources. The materials in the collection are formed in part from the faculty file (RG 42) developed during Ms. Leland's lifetime and in part through the efforts of Margaret Storrs Grierson, Archivist Emerita of Smith College. Ms. Grierson donated these materials to the College Archives in August 1983.
