SERIES II. ACADEMIC DEPARTMENTS
(3 document boxes / 1.3 linear feet)
Arrangement:
The files in this series are arranged alphabetically by the most recent name of the department.
Scope and content:
Included are newspaper clippings, correspondence, and reports from the undergraduate departments of the college. Also included are programs administered by the departments. For example, files from the Smith College Campus School are included as a sub-series of the Department of Education. However, undergraduate and graduate academic programs administered either jointly by two or more departments, or by a separate and autonomous college office, are filed either with Academic Programs or Administrative Offices. Graduate Programs are filed in the Graduate Work series. Information about Five College joint academic programs in several areas of study can be found in the Intercollegiate Associations series.

SERIES IV. ADMINISTRATIVE ISSUES
(11 document boxes / 4.6 linear feet)
This series documents activity in the President's Office which is either of a general nature, requiring the attention of only the president and her closest assistants, or requiring the participation of a number of administrative bodies at once. Included in this series are records relating to a number of general issues, such as Legislators and Legislation, Lesbianism, Race, and Women's Education. At the end of the series there is a collection of miscellaneous correspondence handled by the President's Office, filed in chronological order. Several issues, such as lesbianism, race and South Africa divestment, pervaded many areas of campus activity. Because material on these topics can be found under a variety of headings, a Subject Guide has been provided on pages 9-11 of this finding aid to assist the researcher.

SERIES V. ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICES
(22 document boxes / 9.1 linear feet)
Arrangement:
The files are arranged alphabetically by the most recent name of the office.
Restrictions on access:
Approximately 7 document boxes (3 linear feet) of Development material is open for research. Due to the sensitive nature of the development process, however, there is a large collection of material which will be closed to researchers for a minimum of seventy-five years.
Scope and content:
The Administrative Offices series is the largest series in the Dunn Files. It includes correspondence and reports from individual offices as well as newspaper clippings and other general information about their activities and functions. There may also be useful information in the Buildings and Grounds series about the buildings in which the various offices were housed. Development comprises the largest section of the Administrative Offices series.
