Scope and Contents of the Collection
The Mount Holyoke College Black Studies Department records contain memoranda; correspondence; newspaper clippings; reports; advertisements; and proposals. The records include information about the formation of the Black Studies Department and the Five College Black Studies Committee. Annual reports of the department to the President as well as letters from President Gettell to the College community can be found in the records. The records also contain information about special events sponsored by the department, including a film festival and a lecture series.
