The Ad Hoc Committee on Student Facilities was formed in 1969 to research the possibility of building a student union on campus, or renovating an existing structure to meet student needs. In 1971 the Committee submitted a report to the Board of Trustees in favor of building a new student center, large auditorium, and an African American Cultural Center.
The records include correspondence, agenda, minutes, and reports by the Committee. Information for and against a new student union is included, as well as student opinions, financial statements, and proposals. Additionally, proposals for an African American Cultural Center are detailed.
