The Florence Purington Prize was established in 1919 by Sigma Theta Chi Alumnae Committee. The awards was presented annually in the fall to one of the five highest ranking freshmen. The award was discontinued in 1950.
The records include a newspaper clipping, and correspondence. The correspondence concern the selection of each year's recipient, as well as letters concerning funding for the prize.
