SummerMath began in 1981 as a six-week mathematics-intensive program for high-school girls. The program's goals include providing a stimulating environment for learning and building self-confidence in young women in math. SummerMath also includes a two-week program for primary and secondary school teachers (SummerMath for Teachers) based on improving teaching methods in math classes.
The records include brochures, newspaper clippings, posters, correspondence, and photographs. Information on SummerMath for Teachers and regular SummerMath is included, along with applications and feedback from participants.
