Historical Note
From 1931 to 1936, if a student wanted remunerative work, she sent an application to the Dean of Residence. The cost of board could be reduced through household work or waiting on tables. Other types of work were also available. From 1936 to 1950, the Secretary of the Committee on Scholarships handled student employment. In 1950, the duties were passed to the Director of the Appointment Bureau. In 1964, the Director of Vocational Planning and Placement was in charge of student employment. From 1975 to 1978, the Office of Career Services oversaw student jobs on campus. In 1978, student employment became part of the Financial Aid Office with the establishment of the Coordinator of Student Employment. In 1989, the Office of Student Employment was established and was made a part of the Office of Human Resources. |
