Historical Note
In 1907, a Dean was first appointed to oversee academic, social, vocational and scholarship affairs at Mount Holyoke. In 1928, these responsibilities were divided among an Academic Dean, Director of the Appointment Bureau and a Dean of Residence. The Office of the Dean of Residence became the Office of the Dean of Students in 1964. It oversees the nonacademic affairs of the students, such as Student Activities (co-curricular activities), the Drug and Alcohol Awareness Program, Residential Life. |
