Edith Morton Packard was born on November 19, 1873, in Illinois. She entered Mount Holyoke in 1893, but left in 1896 when her mother became ill. She received a B.L. from Syracuse University in 1898. She worked at Rome High School (Rome, New York) from 1897-98, and then for a short time at Syracuse University. From 1907-09 she worked as assistant librarian at the New York City Y.W.C.A. In June of 1909 she married Avery Howe. They had two children. Edith Packard Howe died on October 18, 1928 at Saranac Lake, New York
The Edith Morton Packard Howe Papers contain correspondence (1893-1896), newspaper clippings, and a photograph. The correspondence describes her living arrangements, domestic work and her teachers while a student at Mount Holyoke.
