Diane Fay Finn was born on December 6, 1928 in Boston, Massachusetts to Henry Michael Finn, a merchant, and Bessie Ruth Finn. She attended Girl's Latin School Boston, Massachusetts from 1940-1946 and then went to Mount Holyoke College from 1946-1950, receiving a B.A. in political science. On June 26, 1949 she married Matthew Nathaniel Sherman and they had three children. In the mid-1990s, she married Robert J. Levine.
The Diane Sherman-Levine Papers consist of course records and a photograph. These papers primarily consist of papers written for English language courses at Mount Holyoke College, 1946-1948. These papers include comments written by her English professors. Her paper topics include "St. Exupery as Seen Through Imagery in Wind, Sand and Stars," "Kent in Disguise," "Afternoon Awakening in the Top of a Double Decker-Bed," and "William Randolph: His Contribution to America." Also included is a photograph of Sherman during her senior year at Mount Holyoke College.
