Genevera Ducro was born in Ashtabula, Ohio on August 1, 1900 to John P. Ducro, a merchant, and Carrie L. Butts Ducro. She was valedictorian of her class at Ashtabula High School and attended Mount Holyoke College from 1918-1922. She was secretary of her class and graduated with a B.A. in economics and English literature. Ducro was a Young Women's Christian Association secretary in New York and Illinois, and taught junior high school for many years in Ohio and in Hawaii. She attended Case Western Reserve University, receiving a Master's in Library Science in about 1944. She worked in various libraries and was a founding member of the Women's Fortnightly Club and the Ashtabula branch of the American Association of University Women. Ducro lived with Florence Brugger, a Mount Holyoke College classmate, for a number of years. She died in Ashtabula on August 30, 1987 at the age of eighty-seven. |
