Chiefly letters to Henry A. Winter (dated 1861-1862) from his mother, Mrs. S. A. Winter, and sister, Adelaide Winter, written while he was stationed with the 11th Regiment, Wisconsin Volunteers. Reflects his mother's activities in Berlin, Wisconsin, and his sister's life as a student at Mount Holyoke Female Seminary. Also includes two letters (dated 1871-1872) describing Adelaide's illness and death from tuberculosis, after her marriage to Francis H. Hiett. |
