The collection consists of correspondence; biographical material; and photographs. Most of the letters are by Kendall to family members describing her travels in England, France, Germany, Italy and Switzerland, from July 1869-May 1870. Also included are several letters by Kendall and Plimpton family relatives.

This collection is organized into two sub-groups. It is arranged into series within each sub-group, then chronologically.
