Scope and Contents of the Collection
The Susie Elizabeth Martin Clark Correspondence contains letters to family members written while a student at Mount Holyoke College, 1907-1911, including letters from a summer study at Woods Hole Marine Biological Laboratory in 1910, and her subsequent work as a high school science teacher in Bristol, Vermont. The letters chiefly describe her social activities, academic work, friendships, work in the zoology lab, and excursions. Also included are accounts of meetings with her sister Margretta Martin Hayden, Mount Holyoke College graduate, 1909. The thirteen letters from Woods Hole describe boarding conditions and her work in the field of marine studies. Chronologically arranged. |
