Scope and Contents of the Collection
Organizational, membership and financial records of Amherst College Women, a women's service and social organization known for most of its existence as the "Ladies of Amherst College," spanning the history of the organization from its founding in 1906 until roughly 1976. The records include constitutions, meeting minutes, and annual membership lists. Also included among the records are newspaper clippings, correspondence, expense records and memorabilia. Finally, the collection also includes a photograph album of portraits of various wives of faculty and administrators. The records are organized roughly in chronological order. Folders after 1943 labeled "Miscellaneous" consist of various document types such as clippings, flyers, announcements, financial records and minutes. |
