Two journals of Elizabeth James Seelye (daughter of J.H.S.), Smith College, non-grad, Class of 1884, containing information about her father and Amherst College, are in the Smith College Archives.

As of November 17, 1994, three original letters from Kanzo Uchimura (AC 1887) to President J. H. Seelye are missing. They are dated as follows:
