Biographical Note

M. Abbott Van Nostrand (1911-1995) was a member of the Amherst College class of 1934. For nearly forty years he was president of Samuel French, Inc., the oldest and largest play publisher and licensing agency in the English-speaking world, in New York City.

Scope and Contents of the Collection

23 scrapbooks of newspaper clippings and programs related to theater productions in various United States cities between 1885 and 1947, presumably of plays published by the Samuel French Company.
