Biographical Note

Alicia Borinsky, who came to the United States in 1967 from her native Argentina, is a literary critic, fiction writer, poet, and teacher. She has published in both Spanish as well as English with in collaboration with her longtime translator Cola Franzen. Borinsky is Professor of Modern Foreign Languages and Literatures at Boston University. She has also held visiting professorships at Harvard University and Washington University in St. Louis. Among her accolades is a Guggenheim Fellowship, which she was awarded in 2002, as well as the Latino Literature Prize in Fiction, 1996.

Borinsky's recent published novels include: All Night Movie (Northwestern University Press, 2002), Dreams of the Abandoned Seducer (University of Nebraska Press, 1998), and Mean Woman (University of Nebraska Press, 1993). Borinsky also has published several books of poetry: The Collapsible Couple (Middlesex University Press, 2000), La Mujer de Mi Marido (Corregidor, 2000), Golpes Bajos (Instantaneas) (Ediciones Corregidor, 1999), and Timorous Women (1997). In addition to novels and poetry, Borinsky publishes critical articles in both Spanish and English, and has published a book of literary criticism Theoretical Fables, The Pedagogical Dream in Contemporary Latin Fiction (University of Pennsylvania Press, 1993)
