Biographical Note

William Gooding Hartin (1874-1969) was a member of the Amherst College Class of 1909. After graduation he was the principal and district superintendent of schools, Burlington, Vermont, a representative for D. Appleton & Co., and a manufacturer of gloves and mittens in Gloversville, New York.

Scope and Contents of the Collection

The William Gooding Hartin (AC 1909) Student Papers consist of essays written for classics courses and English literature courses at Amherst College, 1907-1909. Papers written for Amherst College debate teams are also included. Three articles that may have been written later in Hartin's life are included in the final folder.
