There is no restriction on access to the Joseph Amiel Papers for research use. Particularly fragile items are restricted for preservation purposes.
Requests for permission to publish material from the Joseph Amiel Papers should be directed to the Archives and Special Collections. It is the responsibility of the researcher to identify and satisfy the holders of all copyrights.
Joseph Amiel, attorney and writer of popular fiction, was born in New York City on June 3, 1937. He attended the Fieldston School and entered Amherst College in the Class of 1959. He attended Yale Law School and earned the LLB there in 1962. He has published the following books: Hawks (1979); Birthright (1985); Deeds (1988); Star Time (1991); and A Question of Proof (1993).
The bulk of the collection consists of typescripts, galleys and proofs of five of Joseph Amiel's novels, 1979-1993. Also included are class notes taken by Amiel for history and English courses at Amherst, 1956-1959.
